About SPBA

The Society for Promotion of Bangladesh Art (SPBA) was established in February 2002 with the objective of promoting Bangladesh Art to the world. Since its inception, the organization has worked as a vital platform connecting the matured style and practices of Bangladesh Art with global audiences, institutions, and cultural networks.

As its flagship endeavor, SPBA published in 2003 the book titled Bangladesh Art: A Collection of Contemporary Paintings. The publication received international recognition for its comprehensive insight into Bangladeshi art. The book has since been displayed and archived in several renowned institutions around the world, including Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Harvard University, major cultural institutions in Japan and France, as well as Bangladesh Embassies across the globe. The book is widely recognised as the encyclopedia of Bangladesh art.

Over the years, SPBA has organized and sponsored numerous exhibitions, workshops and Art Camps promoting works of Bangladeshi Artists in countries including Japan, France, India, Pakistan, Poland, Italy, and Germany. Through exhibitions, workshops, publications, and educational programs, the Society continues to cultivate artistic dialogue while creating opportunities for emerging and established artists alike.

A defining commitment of SPBA is its continuous support for the next generation of artists. Fifty percent of the Society’s resources are dedicated to the development and promotion of emerging artists who often lack access to collectors, institutional support and international exposure. Through workshops, mentorship programs, and collaborative initiatives, SPBA actively supports young artists and art students to help them build sustainable creative futures while strengthening the broader cultural landscape of Bangladesh.
