Born in Brahmanbaria in 1958, Ahmed Shamsuddoha is a contemporary Bangladeshi painter whose work draws inspiration from Bengal’s rivers, landscapes, Old Dhaka, and the changing outskirts of the capital. A graduate of the Bangladesh College of Arts and Crafts, Dhaka (1980), he began as a landscape painter before developing his distinctive form of surrealism in the early 1990s.

His paintings transform familiar scenes into dream-like, poetic worlds, blending observation, memory, and imagination with a subtle sense of mystery. Shamsuddoha has received several notable awards, including the Grameenphone Award at the 17th National Art Exhibition (2007), the Bengal Foundation Award at the 16th National Art Exhibition (2005), and the S. M. Sultan Grand Award (1999).

He works as a freelance artist based in Dhaka.
