Kalidas KarmakarKalidas Karmakar (10 January 1946 – 18 October 2019) graduated in Fine Arts (Five-Year L.N.M. Program) from the Government College of Fine Arts and Crafts, Calcutta (now Kolkata), India in 1969.
In 1976 he was the first Bangladeshi Artist to have a solo exhibition in Washington DC, USA. Over the course of his distinguished career, Karmakar has held numerous solo and Group exhibitions in Bangladesh and internationally.
Karmakar's achievements have earned him widespread recognition. In recognition of his extraordinary influence on modern Art, the Government of Bangladesh awarded him the prestigious Ekushey Padak in 2018. Amongst the other Accolades he received were the Sultan Padak in 2014, Shilpakala Padak in 2016, the Special Painting Award from the Asia Pacific Museum in Poland n 1978the best Print Award in 1984 at the International Biennale in France and the Paurchase Award from the Fukouka Art Museum in Japan.
