Shumona Haque was born in 1966 in Bangladesh. She completed her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from the Institute of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, in 1990.

Since 1994, she has actively exhibited her work through numerous solo and group exhibitions across Bangladesh, establishing herself as a notable figure in the country's art scene. Her practice reflects a sustained commitment to artistic exploration and contributes significantly to the development of visual arts in Bangladesh
